storage protein, was detected from our wild soybean germplasm collection. AItheugh induced mutant Iines lacking B-cenglycinin were reported to be non viable in preyious studies, the QT2 line grew nermally and produced successiye generations. To distinguish it from the non yiable B-conglycinin-lacking line, this phenotype was referred to as the "QT2-type". In these studies, we investigated the mode of inheritance of the QT2-type and the genetic relationships between the QT2-type and some other soybean storage proteins. In spite of the fact that B-conglycinin was cempesed of three major subunits, genetic anaiysis of the QT2 linc indicated that the QT2-type was controlled by one single dominant gene. The new genetie symbol ef Scg was assigned te the QT2 type in this report. Furthermore, the mode of inheritance of the QT2-type was

The purpose of this work was to scan chromosome 5 for mapping QTL affecting live weight in an F2 population. A three generation resource population was developed by using two distinct Japanese quail strains, wild and white to map quantitative trait loci underlying hatching weight and growth traits. Eight pairs of white (S) and wild (W) birds were crossed reciprocally and 34 F1 birds were produ...
متن کاملEffects of proteome rebalancing and sulfur nutrition on the accumulation of methionine rich δ-zein in transgenic soybeans
Expression of heterologous methionine-rich proteins to increase the overall sulfur amino acid content of soybean seeds has been only marginally successful, presumably due to low accumulation of transgenes in soybeans or due to gene silencing. Proteome rebalancing of seed proteins has been shown to promote the accumulation of foreign proteins. In this study, we have utilized RNAi technology to s...
متن کاملIdentification of glycinin and beta-conglycinin subunits that contribute to the increased protein content of high-protein soybean lines.
Seed protein concentration of commercial soybean cultivars calculated on a dry weight basis ranges from approximately 37 to 42% depending on genotype and location. A concerted research effort is ongoing to further increase protein concentration. Several soybean plant introductions (PI) are known to contain greater than 50% protein. These PIs are exploited by breeders to incorporate the high-pro...
متن کاملCharacterization of storage proteins in wild (Glycine soja) and cultivated (Glycine max) soybean seeds using proteomic analysis.
A combined proteomic approach was applied for the separation, identification, and comparison of two major storage proteins, beta-conglycinin and glycinin, in wild (Glycine soja) and cultivated (Glycine max) soybean seeds. Two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE) with three different immobilized pH gradient (IPG) strips was an effective method to separate a large number of ab...
متن کاملInheritance of salt tolerance in wild soybean (Glycine soja Sieb. and Zucc.) accession PI483463.
Tolerant soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) cultivars aid in reducing salt damage in problem fields. New genes are important to reduce losses from salt injury. Objectives of this study were to determine inheritance of salt tolerance in wild soybean (Glycine soja Sieb. and Zucc.) PI483463 and to test allelism of tolerance genes from genotypes PI483463 and S-100, a common ancestor of southern in US...
